Link Dump #1

Sub-Title:
"AH! Oh! No no nonononono! WAUUAAUAUAHHHH!!" - This week's winner

I'd like to say that this is a segment brought to you by our generous sponsors over at unfurl.ca, but that would imply that money is being generated by either of these sites. Which is just not true. In any case: we find random links on the Internet and here we share them with you along with some commentary from our two most qualified (read: only) staff members.

  1. First off we'd like to direct your attention towards Buy Games Not Socks, which is 5 cool looking indie games for $5. Why are you still here? Go buy it. NOW!
  2. G4 is apparently producing a new set of Marvel anime series ... es. The number of the counting shall be four. However you pluralize that.
    • Chris says: It looks bad. It looks really bad. They might have good writing, but Wolverine looks like he's eight, and Blade looks like he has a terribly-advanced case of pink eye on both sides, which has somehow turned purple. Iron Man looks cool, but if an anime artist can't draw cool robots, I think they have to commit seppuku.
    • Tim says: What? No. Just ... what's going on over here? No ... guh - awww. And I used to like these characters.
  3. Funny videos by someone named DW Diaz.
    • Both say: Pretty funny. Short! Check 'em out.
  4. Weird fan art.
    • Tim says: Some of this is cool. Some of this is fucked up.
    • Chris says: Mostly very cool. The best part is the first one, though: slightly-creepy Luigi backed by M. Bison (Mario Bison!?).
  5. YouTube clip: "What You Can Find on The Internet. Evidently the second one.
    • Chris says: I think someone beat us to this making-fun-of-the-Internet thing, Tim.
    • Tim says: I think you're right, Chris.
  6. GIF Fight.
    • Tim says: Dance-off with animated GIFs. How can this be bad? Spoiler: it can't.
    • Chris says: Dude. Thpoilerth.
  7. 8-bit pantyhose.
    • Tim says: 8-bit makes everything better.
    • Chris says: I'm just going to leave Tim's fetishes alone and move on.
  8. French Batman!?
    • Tim says: This video has solved every debate on the Internet, ever.
    • Chris says: I'll be honest. This is really well-done, but it isn't actually a video about Batman (or Deliverance). Lies!
  9. 8-bit mashup of video games and music on a building ... ?
    • Tim says: Someone accidentally spilled the contents of an arcade onto a wall?
    • Chris says: Look, I don't have a joke here. Sometimes Tim brings us creepy 8-bit fetish, and sometimes he brings us awesome 8-bit fetish. Stopped clocks, I guess.
  10. A vowel-deficient director wants Christina Hendricks to be Wonder Woman in a movie.
    • Tim says: Listen. In this link there's a picture of Christina Hendricks's cleavage. It's irrelevant why.
    • Chris says: I have absolutely no interest in Wonder Woman whatsoever. Unless I'm reading that article. It's weird.
  11. In case you wanted more Minecraft jokes in your life: Derpcraft.
    • Chris says: Funny as this is (and kind of true-to-life), I'm mostly surprised that Newgrounds is still around.
    • Tim says: Mmm ... virtual LEGO crack.
  12. Original Henson!
    • Tim says: Cookie Monster is the best at what he does. And what he does is ... eat wheels?
    • Chris says: Jim Henson doing commercials for General Foods is way better than the soulless suits that replaced him doing pretty much whatever they do now. It's like the whole company is some kind of empty puppet with a hand up its ... wait.
  13. Shut up, emo kid.
    • Chris says: There's a comment about evolving languages here, but ... aw, who cares?
    • Tim says: Something funny about making an emo kid cry using language.
    • Chris says: Way to use language.
  14. "Educated woman."
    • Chris says: Owned.
    • Tim says: It's true: these people exist.
  15. Stills on set of The Hobbit.
    • Chris says: Peter Jackson should just stop directing movies once he's done with Tolkien. Nothing after this will matter remotely to anyone capable of human thought.
    • Tim says: I guess he'll have work forever if Tolkien's son keeps releasing The History of Middle Earth.
  16. Someone has a blog about Don Cherry's suits. We're in agreement that commentary is not required - it's low-hanging fruit, but someone has to pick it. Just be sure to scroll down for the pith helmet.
  17. If you like drawing? Informative!
    • Chris says: It turns out the Internet was actually designed by people who wanted to share information for the betterment of their research aims. You can, actually, learn from it.
    • Tim says: Incredible.
  18. Once again, Jon Stewart was on Fox News.
    • Chris says: I like watching people from Fox News try to grapple with Stewart. They're incapable of sifting apart their three main arguments that everyone else has bias, that Jon Stewart has some bias, and that he doesn't own up to the significance of his contributions. On the other hand, he still hasn't got them to notice that comparing their own news network to a channel full of fart jokes and puppets is inherently insulting to themselves. It's like he's trying to teach them something worthwhile, and they just want him to know that he's teaching. Yes. Let's move past that.
  19. And this week's award for Achievements in Pooping Yourself goes to this guy, who manages to find new and creative ways to be surprised by surprises while playing Amnesia, and talking to his friends on Skype.
    • Tim says: All I can say is that it's amazing how funny it is, even after seven minutes.
    • Chris says: Sometimes adding your own jokes to things lessens them comedically: just watch it.
  20. Join us next week when there's stuff on the Internet. And we talk about it.
